The original Kona Brewery is still alive and well in Kailua-Kona! There are two taproom locations. The original brewpub in Kailua-Kona right next to our brewery, and another on the island of Oahu. You’ll find plenty of food, fresh Kona beer and aloha spirit.

We have built one of the most sustainable breweries in the world, located right here in our hometown of Kailua-Kona.
Since we opened 30 years ago, Kona Brewing Co. has been committed to making locally brewed beers in the most environmentally responsible way possible. When we outgrew our original brewery years ago, we wanted to find a way to expand without putting pressure on our island home’s precious resources. In 2021, our brand-new 30,000-square foot brewery opened as one of the most sustainable breweries in the world. Located just down the road from the original Kona brewery and brewpub, our new brewery has an annual capacity of 100,000 barrels and includes a canning line so that we can package more of our island brews in this portable, lightweight package!
Kona Brewing Co. is proud to be expanding production in our hometown while setting the standard for brewing beer in a way that’s efficient and environmentally responsible. By brewing more beer on the islands, we decrease our carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment. Kona also teamed up with innovators in technology and sustainability to invest in new eco-friendly brewing technology. Our new brewery will have solar panels covering every square inch of the roof, produce 100% of our CO₂ thanks to a state-of-the-art CO₂ recovery system, and generate an estimated 50% of our water and one-third of our energy needs.

Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island is the site of our brewery and first restaurant.
The brewpub opened in November 1998. In true Aloha spirit, we opted to make it out of locally sourced materials, and we even built a 2,000 square-foot outdoor lanai that lets you kick back and breathe in the fresh island air.
- Our pub offers dine-in and takeout.
- Walk-ins welcome. No reservations or call ahead seating.
- In accordance with the Department of Health, only Certified Service Animals are allowed in the pub.
- All parties 8 or larger will have an automatic gratuity of 20% add to their bill.

Open since 2003, Kona Brewing Hawaii Kai is
inspired by a traditional Hawaiian canoe house. The pub is set on the docks of
Koko Marina and provides outstanding views of the water and the lush
surrounding valley. What’s more, the open-air seating allows for a relaxed
atmosphere to best enjoy fresh beer on tap and the perfect menu items to match.
